Since that foto I've changed the nut bolt which has brought the action a little higher and I'm pretty much just using the slide or if it sits on my knee a tone bar (if that's what they're called).
Now I've asked a carpenter mate to suggest different Australian hardwoods I can get hold of to make some more necks... just need to find more boxes or decent tins.

Personally, for GDG fretless. I like the string height a bit more than a quarter inch at the 12th fret or half way point and a bit low up near the nut. IF you want lower action - you can cut and file a slot for the nut to sit lower and/or sand down or replace the saddle.
