  • Diane, I got this wood from my brother in law who has access to an impressive stash of the stuff. I got it as a single piece, a full 1" thick, 3 3/4" wide and about 27" long. I then resawed into 6 blanks, a couple of passes over the joiner, a run through the thickness planner and there ya go. I then hand scrape the fret board after I glue it to the neck, the results is a silky smooth finish and the grain just "pops". Unfortunatly, or not, the finished thicknesses range from a strong 3/16" down to about 1/8" depending on how true the saw was running.
  • where did you get the maple? was it already 1/4"?
