The box has a sliding lid, so a guitar type brace wouldn't work on this lid. It should have had a brace across the inside of the box in that area or not had the area cut out between the tail and neck.
Hello, the problem might be the leverage of your unusual bridge. I often put a thin brace strut of spruce below my bridge somewhere on the toneboard. I use spruce and shape it the way quality guitars braces are shaped. I use a pass through neck which does not touch the soundboard. I try and leave enough clearance for the brace to fit between the top and the passthrough. Maybe nextime move the bridge out onto the soundboard so it vibrates it without needing the extension and use a tailpiece for your string holds. This system is good for not sinking the soundboard. ....Dave
Thanks I like it to, the only thing is the tenion of the strings is making the lid sink in at the tail block. Which is making the string pull away from the fret board, I think the lid needs to be reinforced some how. I have a few more of the boxes that was used for it. There are three sizes of these boxes.

Very nice work. I like the simple design. Looks like a CBG from way back...
Just a great box and build. Oh, a dulcimer too. I do not know why I have not done a neck like that above the box.
