The wood is Cobote. I actually bought this at MGB. It came pre-slotted for the 25 1/2" scale, but the fretboard was wider than the neck. So used a band saw to cut a strip off the side and after mounting it, I sanded it smooth to the neck. One thing that I have found when buying the more exotic woods is that it requires more leveling than something you would buy off the shelve at Home Depot or Lowes.
