Oh yeah, on the DGB/open G and finger chording. . I always like to have one strung that way - or a variant: ADF# which fingers the same way but it is open D. I do prefer going four strings and DGBE. Easy playing.
Just coming back here in Switzerland. Thanks for the comments and likes while I was away. Uncle John, all my guitars are pretty "distressed" but I enjoy building and playing them :-) They are all three strings (2nd, 3rd, 4th) with low action and light gauge strings and standard tuned (DGB). I can't play slide, but I love going up and down the neck playing to backing tracks! And three strings still lets you play chords with one or two fingers.
Southern Ray, the more I build these things, the more I think the small boxes should be used for short-scale acoustic or piezo guitars to show as much of the box as possible, with a thru neck and one big sound hole to give a good sound. I also want to build a couple of small two-string CBGs (3rd and 4th strings), if only it wasn't so cold outside :-)
For more sound, I started building my own larger boxes and, for example, use cigar box labels with bigger pickups and bridges. Anyhow, all the best for 2021, stay well and take it easy, cheers, Ross
