Thank you for the help on the open tuners! I bought some that were not very good so I am working on buying better tuners. Are you saying that the gears should be up at the top? I had one that strip out is that because it was at the bottom? Thank you any and all help! Jim
Thank you uncle John for the kind words! I have a lot to learn! But it was fun and I have been working on a few more all keep you posted! Thank you again! Jim
I don't know how Pick knows this is a maiden voyage build, but if it is, wow. You got a whole lot right. Looks great. Wonderful woods. Yup, the gears should go down toward the bottom on open tuners, but you will likely be fine.
Lots of good lessons here and on youtube. Top of page RESOURCES - check out knotlenny's CBG 101. I hope to see and hear more from you.
tip ... if those are open back tuners , i'd install them the other way next time . (round gear down ) . installed that as is they have a tendency to skip or blow out due to string tension pulling the shaft away from the gear . not an issue with most enclosed tuners , but open ones can cause issues , (sometimes they are fine ), other times , not so much .
i wouldnt change it , just preventative medicine for the future ;-)
