  • Thanks! They are pretty easy to make, even easier if you don't put frets on them! But for kids I thought diatonic frets plus the 6 1/2 fret would be best. I used a wound "D" string because I thought it would be easier on the kiddo's fingers. And the wood I used were 1"x1" pieces of poplar from my local big box store. I did have to sort through the pile but was fortunate to find two that were straight. After that it was a matter of using my router table for the basic shaping and voila! Note to newbies: I have found it easier to put the frets on it before rounding the back but fretting after will also work. You just need something for the neck to rest on while you put the frets on (something I do not yet have).

  • Those are nice.   I think I need a strum stick in my collection, whether it be one, two or three strings.
