  • Beautiful, proper work

  • Thank you for explaining that. My next question was going to be how you got everything past the pickup, but you included that in your explanation.  Thanks.

  • To open the box, you have to loosen or remove the strings, remove the hardball bridge as it is screwed into the almost through the box neck.  Then remove two screws from the back which go through the back and two small blocks of wood glued inside the box (to make up the space between the bottom of the box and the neck) into the neck.  Then screw the pickup all the way up as high as it will go, so it won't catch on the neck as you pull the neck out far enough for the fret board to clear the lid.  Then open the box.  Reverse all this to put it back together.  The heel actually goes through the box (almost - just to the back of the inside) also so that the neck can slide out a bit to open the box.  Once opened the neck lifts straight up and out.

  • This is a very nice looking guitar. I wonder if I could ask a few questions about the way it is constructed.  When you have the fret board going over the lid as it does, did you add the fret board to the neck after it was in place, or did you slide the neck in with the fret board on? For my next build I would like to have a fret board over the lid as you have yours.  I assume the lid can not be opened very easily once the fret board is in place. Am I right to assume that, or can it be opened from the back somehow?

  • I have built several gits out of these boxes. They look beautiful and sound great. The thick hardboard construction gives the git a warm mellow sound.
Your git looks amazing! Very classy build!
