  • P90 with the dog-ear cover is what you want - period appearance and a nice sound. The jazz-style pickups that fit to the end of the fretboard or pickguard are typically too deep for these old Harmonys, as the end of the fretboard doesn't "float" over the top like most archtops. If you fit pretty much any type of regular pickup you'll end up cutting into the parallel braces, so they'll need an overlapping splice reinforcement either side of the pickup cut-out. I know of what I speak, as I've done exactly this on an old Harmony Monterey...which looks like what you've got here. They do make a nice jazzbox when you've put in a decent pickup.
  • Big dirty humbucker!!
  • I really like the looks of the tuning on this one !
  • I'd look for an archtop pick guard that would suit the style of the guitar and then get one of the neck pick ups that attaches to the pick guard and "floats" under the strings. Its a beautiful old Harmony. I wouldn't personally do much in the way of cutting. It would make a nice high strung guitar (put the top 6 of a twelve string set on it) . I think Bezdez has those pups. Good luck and great find.
