This Cigar Box Guitar was origanally built by Faye Kempton on Feb. 8th 1921. It was given to me by a good friend at Junkstock this spring. I completely tore it down and rebuilt it, added bracing, reshaped the headstock to accomodate a geared tuner, walnut bridge, barn nail saddle, walnut nut, antique upolstrey tack fret dots, a light sanding and 4 coats of poly. She's a nice little picker again, I gave it back to him a couple weeks ago.

Thanks James! Funny how some guitars are more fun than others to work on, I have no clue who Faye Kempton was but this git was more than just fun to bring back to a player.....it was a priveledge.
Thanks John, Pick, Wes, AGP and Gary! Had a lot of fun working on this, although it's always a little nerve racking working on old builds like this as a guy is always one slip up away from no return. Thank goodness that slip up never reared it's ugly head :-)

likey alot .
Great save and restoration, Patrick. It was cool when you got it, but you made it a playable beauty and preserved it. Cool saddle too.
I'm working on a diddley too. Kind of a rat rod for mine.
Here's some before pics.
More pics of it finished.
