Might be a bad connection or break in a wire. Try using a jumper wire over each wire or a multimeter to check continuity. I received a preamp with a bad solder joint on a pot tab. I discovered it when I was touching each tab with a wooden probe.
Has buzzing when plugged into amp like bad ground not sure how to fix it was a store-bought preamp
