thnx guys. Unk, upper neck (square one) is an array of sympathy strings tuned to a major scale (doh,re,mi fa so la ti, doh, eight notes key of E) there is a slot thru that neck so you can change keys with a capo. the strap bolts into that upper neck near the head and you play with that one up one your shoulder which puts the other, playing neck in regular guitar position.
The playing neck is regular tuned, just the bottom 66% of a 12 string guitar, i.e. with the high unisons clipped off. I've built many many four pair jobbies like that, I love the chorusyness of twelve strings but i don't like the unisons, particularly when they slip a cent or two out of tune with each other, with an octave between its cool but on unisons i find it jarring so there you go. I'lll be delivering this one tomorrow lunch, hopefully get a video or couple pics with its owner, who happens to be quite a famous professional player from USA. Thanks for your interest :)
