Yup, that's what those toothpicks are for. I cut the bridge a tad too short. This is a real pretty mahogany box, and I was happy to just cut holes and leave them plain - no escutcheon. I think I got the circles idea from Bonehead.
ok here are the shims,those toothpicks,are the shims i spoke of.i sometime do adjustments for playability and i use shims in several areas to get the guitar fine tuned,after i found the height of the shim,in this case the toothpics,i would superglue verneer or cardboard from a soda box in the place of the toothpics,and file or sand the edges of the shim to clean it up,i used to get the height where it needed to be.this task only takes a few minutes.
