This is a HUGE wooden wine box (holds three bottles) with a Renaissance etching of an old Italian winery on its face. I decided to make a 4-string, fretless bass to accompany me 3-string fretless guitars. The rock maple neck has a marble wood fingerboard, maple nut and bridge, and a maple tailpiece. There's a P-90 style pickup and 2.5" brass grommet sound hole to toss the low end freqs out there. I used regular guitar tuners and .80, .70, .60, and .50 nickel wound guitar strings (not bass strings!). The top needed extra bracing, but in the end, I got the wallop and whump where I want 'em.
