Now I am put on the spot! And I viewed it full screen and that box looks less old that way. Hmmm. Pretty good as it is - maybe just oil up the wood to protect and age it. Tung oil, vegetable oil, etc.
If you do want to age it, some whacks with a file.. Could use some brown shoe polish. Could lightly paint it then sand a lot of the paint off and then apply some oil. If you do any of those, you may want to saw lightly saw in the fret markers or use side markers.
You had fun building it. Now maybe have a bit more fun.

I was thinking of putting a coat of tung oil on it today. Just to compliment the neck. Thanks for the tips.

What can I use to age the neck Uncle John?
Very nice. I think you can improve it by aging the neck to match that good and old looking box - take that didley from good to excellent.
