The nut is a piece of L shaped aluminum that has been cut to fit the neck. This wasn't planned. When I went to do the nut the bone was too short. So I took the aluminum and fashioned it to fit. It works well too!

I didn't plan on making the nut like that. I was planning on using bone until I realized it wasn't tall enough to use. Then my brain started to trying to figure out what to do and then I remember seeing these types of nuts on shovel guitars - and so it was born. I actually might do this more because it does make a good nut.
I really like the nut design. I'll have to do that on a build that is in the very beginning stages. As a complete novice I like finding some inspiration from all of the experience that is part of Cigar Box Nation. Maybe one day I will actually learn how to play. Thank You!
