  • Boy that sounds good. I'll have to try one. I'm waiting on a one string "cyclops" from JUJU for my next obsession. I can't wait.

  • I have a Fender Super Champ X2 Guitar Combo Amplifier (15 Watts), with the Clear Channel volume set on 5 and with the volume turned up all the way on the guitar it is loud enough for my wife in a different room to hear me (with the door closed).  If I switch it over to the special effects setting and the volume 2 knob set to "2" it is twice as loud.

You do need to drill one very small hole to put the two pickup wires through the box lid if you want to install it on the box.  I has a very good tone to it, and it is smooth sounding like a humbucker pickup is, whereas a single coil pickup has more of a bite/edgier sound.

I may eventually put a spacer under the pickup to raise it up, but I'm in no hurry because for my playing it is fine where it is.

I liked this pickup so much I ordered a 2nd one for my next build, a fretless 3 string CBG.

  • Boy that's a nice slim pickup. No holes needed. Sounds like it sounds good from your comments. Nice box! Good work.

  • thanks for the feedback, I'm learning more about the Flatpups by customer comments.

  • I did think about raising it but it has plenty of volume on the amp.  I may raise it at some point.

  • Mike, thanks for posting! As for usual pickups, the strings shouldn't be too far away from the pickup. To raise the output, you could put the Flatpup on a sheet of plywood. Anyway, if the sound is ok, keep it as it is :-)

  • These two side views were actually harder to get a good picture of due to the flash and the

blurriness of taking a close up trying to keeping all the different CBG parts in focus.
