Sharp six string ,I have been looking to buy a neck like that from a reputable dealer. Do you remember the seller or who you bought the neck from on eBay or Amazon. I would like to get one or two for myself.
Grandpa, Thanks for all that good info. It is inspiring to hear of the price of the neck and the fact that build was not too difficult. Perhaps I can try one next winter when things are slow.
Gary, thanks for your comments. Yes, Undercrown boxes are very nice to work with. Like me, I'm sure you never pass one up without trying to buy it. This guitar was built with Chinese telecaster knock-off neck. @ $30.00 or so on Amazon. Tailpiece is a 6 string adjustable from CB Gitty, as are the tuners and the pickup. I braced the inside of the box with red oak lumber to support the bolt on neck. Same four bolt pattern as a Strat or Tele - four long wood screws holding the neck to the bracing inside of the box. Don't be nervous...it was not a particularly difficult build, just took a little more time to lay out different bracing and neck attachment for the first time. As with many things, the second time should be less taxing. Go for it!
Very cool. I like those Undercrown boxes and have used at least 4 of them. And I like the fact that you had the nerve to build a 6 string. I haven't gotten that brave yet. Is it a neck through body?
