River Cypress "wood porn"

The "stash" of Cypress logs. These are my future purchases. These logs were marked for cypress mulch when my sawmill operator acquired them 5 years ago. Some are "river" cypress, the rest are dead fall.

  • Wow, that is a chunk, but for soundboards!   Man you can do all right.    Good wishes and I regretted my dumb question.   Hmm,  There are times around here where I could get a good deal on a walnut log.

  • To give you a rough idea, I paid the sawmill guy $750 for that truck load of 1" & 2" saw planks. Of course it was just an 8 ft section. A full length cypress log can costs upwards of $2,000. The 3 core cuts (the 2" x 26 x 8 ft planks) I got out of the deal are "AAA+" quartersawn with no visible knots. Those will be resawn into book-matched sound boards over the next few weeks. It's nice to live in a Florida Swamp.

  • Disregard that nosy question, GS.   I wondered at the time if you even had a mill in mind.  I saw in later photos that you had good connections.  

  • Wow!   You are rich beyond dreams - I hear good things about cypress.   How expensive will it be to convert it to boards?
