Diane - well it looks like the cause for the bowing is that, despite the neck being big and beefy outside the box, it is really quite thin inside the box. You need to think about ways to beef that up. one way might be to cut a notch in the bottom half of the box side, and glue/screw another piece of red oak along the underside of the neck where it goes through the box. It would probably be best to have it actually touch the bottom/back of the box... this would keep the thin portion from being able to bow quite so much. That heel being there does kind of complicate things a bit.
