Hello John, good to hear from you. I run into people who know you quite often at shows. Uncle Johnny is well and works at the steel mill where I teach. We also have very little contact with the MM folks, miss all of them. CGB are my passion for the past few years , I build, sell and teach but don't play.Maby we will meet up at an CGB festival. I'll be saying Hi ta all for you. Rotten Roger
Hi John,
Thanks for the kudos. The pickups you may have seen are made with bar magnets supplied by Dan Sleep of Humidor Guitars.
I use 42 gauge enamel coated pickup wire from Schatten Designs. The bobbin material is 1/8" wood pieces that are left over from various guitar builds. They are scatter wound and wax potted for great tone, response, and anti-microphonic properties.
Right now I have 4 pickups in stock. I dubbed them "Craptone Pickups" as a joke between other CBN member friends. The pickups are as follows:
1. A matched pair of Rosewod Fatt Craps (2) that are reverse wound with 9500 winds each. The impedences are 5.9k and 6.3k ohms. Designed for 3 or 4 string guitars Tops are rosewood.. When wired with a 3 way switch, the middle position will result in a humbucker type effect. These are single coils, but are rather quiet in themselves. These are designed for installation from below the sound board, just like a Fender Strat. The set is $90 with free shipping within N. America.
2. A single pickup named "Mini Logger Bomb". The top is walnut, it has 6000 winds, impedence of 2.7k ohms (close to a Telecaster neck pickup) and designed for a 3 string pickup. $50 with free shipping.
3. A special pickup called "Stacked Crap-bucker". A true humbucker, but the coils are stacked vertically for a small footprint. The top is walnut, designed for 3 or 4 strings, 8000 winds, 5.48k ohms. $60 shipping included.
The nice bonus of these pickups is they dont require strings to line up with magnet pole pieces.
I'm not familiar with the MacBook but several mac users have told me they
could watch wmv videos using Flip4Mac and VLC. I think they are both free
downloads.
If you can watch any of the files on the other pages you should be able to
watch the ones on the CBG page because the wmv format is the same for all
of them.
Another thought: All the same videos are on YouTube. If nothing else works
I bet you can view them there. You can also download them from YouTube.
Please let me know how it works out. One way or another we'll work it out!
Rick
