  Hi Jim,

      here is an easy fix that you can get creative with as well. Use contrasting woods, laminate it, shape it, stain it, etc... I trace a piece of the neck i am using for the cut-out, then cut inside the lines. Finish it with a file until you like the fit. Works good on boxes that you put the neck thru the hinged side as well to keep it closed at the heal end.

   

  Look thru the pics on the main page for other ideas. I just put the strings thru the neck that sticks out the end so far, but you can use spoons, hinges, etc for a tailpiece-
