I couldn't figure out how to phrase that for a site search, so I'm asking here.
I have a cbg that I built, 22" scale thereabouts, and I want to tune it to DGBD, but, with the thinner strings I have on there, all I can make work is AC#EA.
Ok, I just went and bought some cork sheeting, about 1/8" thick, and put a layer of it on my cbg, with little noticeable affect on scrape sensitivity, etc.
I have an acoustic box (top floats freely), cork layer, maple bridge laye
Can't figure out how to see my posts on the resonator box group, so I'm reposting here.
I've been testing my hand built box with a tuning fork, looking for bridge placement sites. I have found a few areas that vibrate very well with nice tone. Nex
bought a small block of it yesterday for this purpose. Just wondering it it's too soft. I know it's relatively hard, but only half as hard as some of the stuff like ebony.
I've currently got a hardboard cigar box git that I'm playing, and sustain is not that great, and highs are not that great either, but when I run it through an effects processor, not that bad.
I've started on a hand built wooden box, 1/4" birch pl
I put a D'Addario Nickel wound 32 (acoustic or electric) string on this 3 string I'm working with, tuned it to G, because that's what was recommended for my lap steel, and it sounds kinda flabby and dead. 25.5" nut to bridge, 34" tuner to tailpiece.
I have a Romeo Y Julieta Churchill box. Sounds like wood when I tap it. Took a chisel to the side to cut between some saw cuts, and all I'm doing is peeling off what I thought was cardboard at first, thinking wood was underneath. Nope, looks like
So, I don't know who'll see this, whether just my friends list or what.
Anyway, my latest build, has a vibrating sitar sound on one string when I play it open. I know what's causing hit. For the nut, I cut deep grooves wider than the string, and it's
And, how do I embed from YouTube to here? I see I can click the Media icon, and it asked for YouTube embed code, but, what is that? Is it an html <a href> tag or some such?
I've got a box I'm constructing, and put 1/8" birch play on the back, and 1/8" mahogany ply on the front (because I only had the birch when I started). The mahogany has some nice deep tone, and the birch has more highs.
As I'm still trying to sort out what is the most ergonomic for me, I'm thinking of putting a static neck mount on the one box I've done so far, and putting replaceable necks on it, i.e. primarily various scale lengths, but perhaps fretted and unfrett
I'm thinking of building a 3 string guitar, or perhaps diddley bow for the first one, and I'm wondering about tone. Instead of waiting around trying to find the right cigar box, I decided to perhaps build my own box.
