  • Wow Dawg, that cedar harp is fabulous! My internet has been real slow lately. Finally got on now. Great job on that one Dawg..... Dave
  • Hey Dawg, thanks for the nice note. I just got some knobs for the Epi today. Nice old brown bakelite. Not the "correct" ones, but still hold good and look sharp. I'm sure liking these old laps. Their tone takes me back to the dance halls of my teens. Big Reggie's Dance Land in Excelsior and The Marigold Ballroom in Minneapolis, The Crystal Colloseum in N E Mpls. Fun times. They ring in my ears. Where'd you go to get it back then? ..... Dave
  • Hated to see my Honeytone go, but it led to a great little Vox amp. I've got a new old lap. A Epiphone Electar Zepher from the 40s. It's one sweet crooner! the amps got a nice mellow reverb and adds to the mellow deep Ep. sound. The guitar came tuned to a D. DADF#AD. Another new tuning for me. I like it so i'll keep it on the Ep for now. Very low and moody. Good at Texas Playboys tunes.

  • Hey Dawg, that's one Beautiful lap steel. Wow! bet it's a smooth opperator. Love seeing it. Makes me want to do one too. Wow!
  • Dawg, tell me about it. I've been going through amps lately. One is a nice sounding little Danelectro "Honeytone". My amp today failed me too. Or maybe the chord today.. ? ... I sold a box electric 6 string today and a Martin ukulele. I should look for a new old amp i suppose. Maybe a Fender Champ lap steel instead....:^)
  • Dawg, does the hum go away when you touch the string with your finger? It may be a grounding issue. Are your strings grounded with a wire from the metal tail or bridge to the back of the volume pot? Does the guitar buzz when nothing is touching her? Anyhow, you could try a glass slide. Just get out a shot glass or water glass, beer bottle etc. and use it as a test slide. If all is solved from this you could get a Dave Lynas slide (porcelain with nice glazes). I like my Stevens heavy metal slide for my Rickenbacher. I like light flat relic bars from the 20s for parlor guitars and CBGs. I'd hate to have to use glass or ceramic if i couldn't use my heavy metal.
  • Hey Dawg, tis ok. Can't you just post photos regular on this site? Just click the plus sign when you open the "pictures" pane. Then click on the camera icon and go from there. I'd love to see those pics. .... Dave

  • Arroyo, it wouldn't open, said "Can't find the server". Oh well, The garden is doing good, mostly planted now. Good weather with rains every few days. Pea's a poping, beans up, everything is coming. Spent the day at the studio making little porcelain bottles. Oldy Dave's Cure All bottles. Fun...
  • Hey Arroyo, nice lap steels for sure! Was at the garden today, but rain came in the late afternoon and chased us home. The garden is mostly planted and coming up. All's well in my world. I've been enjoying my new old Rickenbacher lap steel. A 1940 model. What a great sound it has. Those old horseshoe pups sure do have the sound..... Dave
  • Hey Arroyo, thanks for the note. I've been up at my garden planting and digging. Summer seems to have come at last. Over 80 today and the cherry trees are starting to bloom. Played in a Battle of the Jug Bands yesterday. Lots of fun. Our band this year was Tom Cat and the Hairballs. I'm one of the hair balls...
