speakers n ohms

hi, i just found a little practice amp at the recycle depot- the kind you get bundled with a cheap guitar set probably 7- 10 w. it sounds pretty good with a piezo cbg through it i would like to put it in a custom box and fit a larger speaker.the one in it is 4 ohms, i have a pair of pioneer car speakers also rated 4 ohm.  max load 30 w could i fit these? if so do i fit them series or parallel?  or am i way off here.;) i not expecting it to be louder just a better (fuller) sound?

What are the consequences of fitting say, a 6 ohm speaker? etc..

Any help or pointers much appreciated. best regards to all ...viva da builds

Filling them in parralel is going to put the draw at 2 ohms pushing up the wattage by about 50%. I would think that amp  probably will not be able to handle that. Putting them in series will push the ohms up to 8 ohms reducing the power draw from the amp. This website has a pretty simple explanation of the various calculations and problems without getting too nerdy !  http://www.marktaw.com/recording/Electronics/OhmsAmpsandSpeakers.html

My personal way is to slap it together and if it blows up just go down the junk shop, get more parts and start again !!!!!
