Hi Guys.
I gave a CBG to my grandaughter, and she is taking it to Australia. She is concerned that customs might seize it because of the cigar box it is made of. She will declare it when she arrives, but doesn't want to lose it because of some bureaucrat that think there might be some cigar residue after 5 years. Can anyone give me some guidance?

Thanks Guys. She is on her way home. She'll let me know what happens. Peace, Richard in Tennessee.
Yuup! We couldn't get a decent answer from customs, the airline, or TSA. I told her to say that if they didn't give it to her. they would incur the wrath of the "NATION".

Perhaps if you stuff the cbg with mouldy old cabbage leaves, wriggling with maggots and other pests, or maybe with hard core drugs, they will overlook the fact its a cigar box....
Classic misdirection.
i should add it depends a lot where youre coming in from too, particularly flying in from sth east asia they can go thru your stuff pretty hard core, but from usa and europe they might be a little less so
no, they are not. Ive flown in to australia (where i live) many times and the customs ppl at the airports can be much more hardcore than the folks at the post office.
anyway good luck with it. it might be ok, and it might not. asome of the customs guys at the airport can be very zealous, particularly with untreated vegetable matter. if its laquered it shouldnt matter..
also, ive had two tin guitars damaged by flight crews in the past on qantas flights too after they wouldnt let me take em on board
My thoughts exactly. I don't think she will have any trouble.

Posting things makes no odds..the postal service are just as rigorous screening stuff. As I say, I've had no problems in the past, just make sure you check it out with Australian customs beforehand to avoid any potential problems.
I started out thinking.............HHHhhhmmm..... these guys have WAAAY too much time on their hands.
But then I remembered that I seemed to have the time to SOAK UP EVERY WORD :)
Nice work on the lap steel !
Wow! Great answers! Do you think her Australian passport is a cover for aliens?? She looks like my granddaughter, but maybe not? Maybe she was abducted, and returned posing as an Australian? Maybe they think the CBG is really a jambuck stowed in her tucker bag? She just wanted a CBG so she could play waltzes...
