I have a set of these on the 4-string I'm finishing up. The posts seem pretty tall, and they have 2 holes, one high and one low. I'll wind my strings through the lower hole to get a good break angle over the nut.
Question: does anyone cut off the post to eliminate the extra height and the upper hole? I'm thinking of doing this, but the posts are chrome plated, so the cut surface would not match well.
Your thoughts?

I am not sure which tuners you bought from me that would match the description you have given. Do you have a product code?
I would just leave them the way they are. You are probably the only person who would notice or care. I would think if you cut them off, they would get all jacked up.
Or you could paint the top part black so the holes don't show up as easily.
:-)
Or, you could add a nice pice of thickish veneer to your head stock.
MAybe you don't read well, the guitar is done.
You could macrame a great big post cover and use it to hide your shiny bald head ;-)
But don't cut off your posts. You'll never get the post covers to fit otherwise. >:-E
lil hats ;-)
You could side mount them with a slot in the headstock with the low holes near the nut , or make the headstock thicker so you can only see the top hole .
