Do you know, I was pondering that very thing on my drive to work this morning. I’d already decided it could be strung Gg-Dd-gg, thereby using all six strings in a set, before I figured that the string retainer above the zeroth fret would either be REAL fiddly to carve, or I’d have to revert to a threaded bar. Bolt for the bridge might work... The real issue would be the strain on the timber I use for necks (35mm x 20mm mahogany bench slats), bearing in mind that I have no idea how truss rods work, let alone know how to fit one...

On the drive home I thought I’d start with a two-string diddley-bow strung Gg and see how that flies. Watch this space!

yup, many folks have made Double Course Three Strings .

yeah . . . I've seen quite a few of them over the years (have built several . . . both cigar box and bent-wood pieces).

They're a ton of fun with a diatonic scale.  Cool sound. I like leaving the bass string single, as a drone
