This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

on my builds I stay away from toggle switches. others play my builds better than I, and I would notice them moving the switch without knowing. With CBGs small boxes do create problems with knobs/switches near the "strumming" area.

well today i had the controll board for my washing machine on the workbench!

Samsung 10Kg washer maybe 5 to 7 years old. washed but would not spin. $185 AUD for a replacement and a week or so wait for it..

So off to the youtubes to see if there are any guides.. seems the controller board is prone to dry solder joints due to vibration despite Samsung flooding both sides with a layer of "gel" to stop vibration.

3Hrs of cutting the back off with a dremel and slowly peeling off this gunk from the solder side... resolder all the connections. pop it back in and...

SUCCESS the thing went through two wash cycles so far. Fingers crossed  it keeps working.

Downside is now i have to go to work cause my pants have been washed...lol

I had an old Kenmore washer from the 70's that I replaced parts on and kept running til the mid 90's when the tub bolts finally broke off in the plate and the tub wouldn't spin any longer or hold water. LOL

My MIL bought one of those Samsung front loaders with computer control when they first came out and the computer brain went out. It would've cost about 700 bucks to replace it which was about half the cost of the washer. She bought an old top loader for 400 bucks and put the other one on the curb. Now days they aren't so expensive to fix.

Mine spins but makes lots of noise/vibration. Just a matter of time i suppose.. When I bought the house the guy put in one of those PVC insets, nice, but the hose ends are metal. When the suspect washer was replaced 15 yearsago, the threads wouldn't budge at the PVC joint, so now I worry about the hose. Old house's bite.

Yeah a busted hose under pressure will make a big mess.

I remember seeing somewhere a guy who had a dishwasher with an electronic control that went kaput. Since those boards are so expensive, he figured out the timing and replaced it with a cheap Arduino micro-controller and a relay shield for it. Took him a week to figure out what all those wires were doing but now that he's done the hard work, replacing it is about 5$ from China.

That's great. That's a lot of troubleshooting too. Most of the schematics are hard to follow, but can be done and the more intricate schematics aren't available for the most part.

advantage of the Arduino is he can now add new cycles of his own..lol

well the washing machine hasnt missed a beat since i resoldered it, wasnt too confidant but the proof is in the using...

That's great and something I wouldn't have thought of, glad you shared it Timothy.

Timothy, Awesome! Way cheaper than buying a new one.

Wile I'm waiting for the paint to cure on the other box I've got all the wood cut out for the next. Learned something about my cheap table saw. As I rase the blade it rocks. From side to side. Like a tree in the breeze. Now I know why deep cuts are always off. I can set it at 90 and move it back down a few turns to have it off again. Still cuts straighter than I can by hand. But no where accurate enough for what I was wanting to do. I'll be able to work around it.

Pic of the bones for my next build. No scroll or jig saw work done yet.

Box parts look great.

That blade shouldn't be rocking side to side like that. Better look at the blade to make sure it isn't breaking around the mounting hole and check the pilot shaft bearing. Pilot shaft is what the blade mounts to.

A rocking blade needs to be attended to. Ask me how I know. Stitches then specialized finger surgery.
