Someone on here made single hangers by cutting a slot in the side of a small, deep cigar box and hanging a guitar in the slot by the head. I think they just used drywall screws and screwed the boxes into the wall. It looked really cool.
Yup, it WAS Paul Doug, and here's the picture:

A really great idea!
Ok ... what did yall do to my pic?
One mo' time .. I use several of these on a collapsible rack to display my junk at festivals.

they work great and I'll eventually have more on the wall at home. Matt
And there's always those rubber-coated two-prong tool hangars from the hardware store. You can get them at a music store, too, but they will cost twice as much. But they will be black, which might be worth the $$.
What do you use if the head and neck are the same width? No ears for the hooks to hook on...
You could hang it upside down! Not the traditional way of hanging a guitar, but hey its a cigar box guitar>

A short loop of leather, or braided, cord - tied around the headstock just above the nut.
this is the method they use at the local guitar center. have to drop by and see how they attach the loops to the headstock. I have the problem of the straight neck-to-head. I like the box hangers that Paul made, but don't want to hang on the tuners.
I'm picturing a tool hanger that is V shaped, open at bottom, with rubberized rollers or balls in each arm. when you put the neck into the V, the weight of the guitar pulls the rollers down and squeezes the neck, holding it. should I invent this thing?

Not to rain on your parade ... would a slight shove on the bottom of the guitar (i.e. from an unruly child) send it plummeting towards the carpet?

What you've described reminds me a bit of a cam-cleat.
had to look up cam cleat, but yes, that is what I'm thinking of, but wide enough for a cbg neck. no worries about unruly children up on the wall, more of problem having the guitars on the floor.
I've been web-searching fruitlessly and thinking on this wall hanging problem today. the problem is none of the hangers will grip a neck that has a flush headstock. they all require a traditional flared head. then it dawned on me - use one of these types:

and hang the guitars with the neck/head down and the box resting on the hook. hmmmm...
