Good evening, Wayfinder! Not that your answer isn't excellent...because frankly it always is...but I think the question is about nut and bridge slots.

I'd give my thoughts, but I don't know anything. :-D

Tip..

String your guitar up to full tension and leave it like that for a couple of days before you set the bridge height for action etc. The reason being that if the wood is going to bow slightly, you want it to settle down first before you do your final set up. I deliberately taper either the width or the depth of my necks to control this slight bow. It's something to think about.

I cut any depths of nut and bridge peices to twice the depth as the protruding part and try to have the width of the peice the same as the height. I don't know why, it just made sense when I started and it worked well.
