LAS VEGAS (AP) — B.B. King, whose scorching guitar licks and heartfelt vocals made him the idol of generations of musicians and fans while earning him the nickname King of the Blues, died late Thursday at home in Las Vegas. He was 89.
His attorney, Brent Bryson, told The Associated Press that King died peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 p.m. PDT. He said funeral arrangements were underway.
Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg confirmed the death.

R I P BB King. Your one of the greatest!
A sad day. Not too many folks who've changed the way guitar gets played but BB's one of them. I usually do a music tribute when someone who's had an influence on my musical life has died. I don't think I could do justice to any of BB's songs or playing. Maybe another CBN'er with a stronger blues background could handle it.
RIP His place in the history books is assured.
First heard him at Club Paradise on Vance Avenue in Memphis (the chitlin' circuit) in 1966. He was great then and he kept getting better.
I'm told that he never played slide. He could get all those sounds with bends and finger slides.
a sad note indeed , but left us many great ones . rip BB.
was he last of the true Blues legends...? can't be many left now
The Man, The Legend. He Influenced Millions to pick up a Guitar and make it cry. Rest in Peace Brother.
I believe it's the end of an era. I'm just happy he was able to perform up until the end. That was his life.
A SAD, SAD day !!
God granted him one last wish.
One of the ways he wanted to go was in his sleep.
R.I.P. Mr. King !!
“Growing up on the plantation there in Mississippi, I would work Monday through Saturday noon,” he said. “I’d go to town on Saturday afternoons, sit on the street corner, and I’d sing and play.
“I’d have me a hat or box or something in front of me. People that would request a gospel song would always be very polite to me, and they’d say: ‘Son, you’re mighty good. Keep it up. You’re going to be great one day.’ But they never put anything in the hat.
“But people that would ask me to sing a blues song would always tip me and maybe give me a beer. They always would do something of that kind. Sometimes I’d make 50 or 60 dollars one Saturday afternoon. Now you know why I’m a blues singer.”
