My 5th & 6th One String Cigar Box Guitars Build

I built both of these last night – yes, they are that easy to build. I used (recycled) a K.A. Kendall’s 7-20-4 WK Series Box and a Macanudo, Montego Y Cia, CRU ROYALE Box. They both have a simple neck through design made from Poplar wood that has been sealed with Tru-Oil. The neck is 1" wide (anything smaller wants to roll in your hand when you play). I cut the top section off of the neck and glued a 1/4" piece of wood on the bottom for the head stock. It lowers the machine head and works well. Along the side of the neck I took metal stamps and put the fret positions numbers on to make it easier to play TABS. It has a Dulcimer scale (570mm), with a .013 plain steel guitar string. I used round head common screws for the nuts, a piece of oak for a bridge on one box and a round head common screw for a bridge on the other.

  • Trippy blue, nice one stringers

  • Thank you all.  These two went to the consignment shop (Piccadilly Junktion, Greenfield MO) this morning.  So far they have sold 14 of my Canjos, and 1 of the One String cigar box guitar (the black and wood box with the ebony stained neck).  They are having Blue Grass & Country bands tomorrow on the front porch of the store (if the rain gets through this area in time).  Anyhow, hoping to sell more Canjos and One Stringers tomorrow.

  • Perfect simplicity.
  • Wun String Willmouth.   Those both are pretty on their own and side by side knock outs.
