Electric bass project.

A custom made CB, short scale electric bass. The box is reinforced with steel rod in box and neck. Diatonic fretting. It's bigger than it looks. Feels solid and strong. I usually make mandolins, but after getting an electric bass, I am trying these.

  • WOW, looks great so far!!!!!!
  • H9 Diane, The scale length is 27". With big bass frets, piezo pickup. The bridge will be a cut down P bass item. Standard electric bass string spacing. I thought of using 34" scale, but with diatonic fretting, the spaces are really BIG! I picked up a 26 inch vintage Japanese short scale bass, and the tone and sound is very nice. I made two of these CB basses. I am trying to add more standardization to my builds so I can reproduce them without having to figure it all out each time. I tend to build one off designs, but more folks are liking them so I will have to be more disciplined. They are easy to sell, and the money I make funds my next builds. I am enjoying building these immensely. The proto type was played at a jam by a real bass player, and it was well received. This is a GREAT hobby for me. I installed some gold frets I got from CB Gritty, and they look great. I will add a picture when finished.
