Hi,,,,I am making my 1st scarf joint. I am using 3/4 inch stock and want to resaw it to 5/8 inch to fit the depth of the tuners. When do I cut the thickness?,,,,before or after I make the angled cut for the scarf joint?

Read more…Hi all. I've been away from building guitars for well over a year due to depression after a family bereavement. My current build is two three string necks and a four string for good measure. The thing is, I don't know what to do with it as far as tuning. I initially thought to do a major, minor and 7th tuning (hence the four string) but now I'm wondering how common it is to have major, minor and 7ths together in blues tunes. Read more…has anyone used these? I think you could and then just have one knob that does both vol and tone if you press before you turn it , etc. thoughts? Not sure on the wiring and if you can solder the grounds and the capacitor all to the same base of the one pot?
Read more…I’ve built several CBGs, but I am building my first six string electric. This will be my first with a single coil pick up. It is a 23.5 inch scale. Where is the best location for the single coil pick up. I’ve looked through photos and people seem to put them in different places.
