Good advice. Funnily, the one idea I'd had was 'no frets'! I think I would rather have a guitar specifically for slide than mess with the action on a fretted job. And if I make a second I'm sure the guy who made the beauty above could do me a fretted through-neck. I'll keep the Nation updated!
A box and an idea is a great start. I recall when I was first building that I lose sleep thinking about how I was going to do this and that on the build. Lots of folks start complicated. I think fretless ones,twos or threes are the place to start. If you want frets, it is a good idea to buy a pre-fretted fret board from Gitty or a good builder. Remember that the 12th fret needs to be dead center between the nut and saddle.
