    The Rolling Store

By James o Lunsford Copyright 2001

I woke up this morning___ Put My Flour sack shirt on___ My socks and shoe's _ so I'd keep warm__ then I ran right out that door__ knew it was the day__ for the Rolling store

I got My candy off the Rolling store

Grand Pa would walk Me out to the curb__ where i'd stand for ever till I heard__ that clickey clank coming down that old dirt road__ I just knew once more it's was the Rolling store

Grand Pa pick me up _ step right in_ that store man would say welcome freind_ Grand Pa pick Him up a sack flour a can of lard_ some blackeyed peas_ and dried Lima beans

just before He walked back out that door_ I said Grand Pa can't we buy just one thing more_ He said son I just can't afford it to day_ You know 3 of the Chickens died_ and them tomaters I was gone ta sell the store man here _ Just rotted on the vine_ it'll be alright son tha'll be better time's_ sometimes you just can't afford the things you want_ and you have to do without

That store man said now_son go on over there and get that piece candy you want_ and it'll be on Me_ cause I'm yo Freind _ Grand Paw looked at Me and said_ now Boy you know that ant'nt right_ I taught you that you got to work for what you get in this life

Then He looked in His pocket and said I did't know that was There_ Pulled out a shiny hafe dollar_ said go on over there and get it Boy_ I said Grand Paw I know I don't realy need that piece candy_ Why don't you buy that warm shaw there that Grand ma's been a needing and I'll just do without

That store man said you know son that's a mighty nice thing_ it happens to be yo luckey day_ ya see son I just happen to have Me a sell going on some these here things_ You buy that Shaw for yo Grand Ma_ you get to pick out one other Thing

I got My candy_ off the Rolling Store_ Grand Paw bought Me My candy off the Rolling Store__ I sure miss you Grand Paw_ Grand Paw bought Me My candy__ off the Rolling__ Store
