  • I got one Friday and installed it on the weekend.  No buzz and good warm tone.

  • If any of you all post a video using one of these pickups, please post the link here. I'm really into these...and I'm also exploring different ways to use them. Thanks!

  • Michael F Copado - Yep... That is exactly what I did here. I didn't want to change up the outside of the box, so I just placed the pickup itself (i didn't use the wood covering for anything) right underneath the top of the cigar box. When you get yours together, post a video. I'd like to see it! Thanks, bud!

  • Cool! I've been happy with other stuff from MGB I'll have to check these out.

  • Michael, my current build I just mounted it under the lid (I drilled some holes) because the clearance between where the strings are isn't all that much (and it comes with a wooden cover that probably isn't any thicker that a cigar box lid). On my orange box I glued it to the bottom of the sound hole cover in the middle of the box and there is about 3/8" spacing between it and the strings -- it picks up the sound just fine. MBG Guitars do make a $7.50 coil that is bigger (9k verses these 4.5k) that would do even better through the lid.

  • Sounds and looks good.

  • I was wondering if I could just mount in on the underside of the box. I just installed one on a customer's build outside the box, and liked the sound and thought about adding one to my distressed/antiqued gitty, but I didn't want to cut into the top. Thanks for the conformation that it would work!

  • MGB Guitars has a video sample of this pickup on their website (just above the "Price: $5.00"): http://www.mgbguitars.com/guitar-parts-pickups-five-p/20638.htm

  • I bought several too. They work and sound good. I'm currently working on a build where I glued one of these coils under the box lid. Thanks for posting the video.
