Many debates focus on not having enough natural resources. The real problem is not having too few resources, it's having too many people. Unfortunately, there's no easy solution to that one :-\
Oh, just a second thought. Warren Buffet sold his UPRR stock or most of it and bought big into the Burlington Northern Railroad, which he thinks is more efficient. I think efficient means it makes him more money.

I live 25 miles from the main Union Pacific Railroad Line and once a week or more will be up there and see the trains rushing along. Man, they keep that line busy. A lot of long trains. 3 lead engines and a pusher engine not uncommon.
Seems to be mostly two kinds of east bounds- Wyoming coal for the power plants of the Midwest and East and container cars full of Chinese made 'goods' heading for Walmarts, Targets and etc. Empty coal cars and containers heading back west.
But that coal makes the electricity running this computer, the lights in this room and the fake woodstove that is currently over warming my right knee and thigh. Lots of wind power here in Iowa too... I hope 'we' find a better way.
looking into some of the background stories it's a bloody disgrace. i'd assume the federal response would be
'well it has to go somewhere dammit!... just throw them some extra funding'. power to the people jim
