Here's tune I learned from the playing of Ry Cooder...a strangely touching patriotic song. The way Cooder sings and plays it lends it a wistful melancholic air...

A great old toon, well played, Chickenbone. Just epitomises the whole sound/feel of the confederacy, ah've laways thought.(all politics and issues aside!)
Nice playing! This has sent me on a little journey of discovery. Being a fan of Billy Bragg, I recognised the tune as the one he sings 'There is Power in the Union' to. Apparently those lyrics were written by Joe Hill and published in the Little Red Songbook in 1913, but his version was sung to the gospel tune 'There Is Power In The Blood (Of The Lamb).
I love the changing, appropriating and sharing of tunes in folk music. Thanks for inspiring my little investigation.

Nice work CBJ...This reminds me of " Ashokan Fairwell" the theme tune to the American Civil War TV series circa 1990
