Mr. C: I've been known to go Kermit on this one myself...we played this song in 8th grade jazz band (I was on bass) and there was one kid I used to crack up all the time by impersonating the frog's version.
Tuning is A-D-G-B (middle four strings of standard 6-string tuning). Four strings definitely makes the jazz chords happen because it allows you to drop in those dominant and major seventh tones. I've tried a few times over the years to learn jazz "for real," but it never seems to happen...the huge four-note voicings here? It turns out you don't really PLAY those in actual jazz contexts. Too much competition with the piano or something. You have to play all these wacky inversions. Thanks for checking it out!
