The baritone cbg is responsible for the western sound. the saz is a traditional iinstrument in Turkey, Armenia, Syria and many other middle east countries. It has quarter frets, you can play tunes that sound "out of tune" but stay "in" with it. I'll post photos of the saz a.s.a.p.
