Hey Unc, I did not mention that I put a dowel rod extension out the back side of it so I can tuck it into armpit, one string makes you work all over the neck and I like to see where I am going so I don't tuck it under my chin. It slides around on me too much if I just try to balance it in the crook of my arm.
A One String Cigar Box Fiddle, what a great idea and starting point for some of us non Violin players, like Unc I too have a Bow, and thanks for posting the specs for your build, I will definitely be looking at building one along those lines in the near future :-)
Unc, I am not even sure, I just used a scale from the smallest ukulele and built it like that. Dead on simple, one crappy Chinese tuner, only needs to tune enough to play. I wood burned fret lines so I knew where to put my fingers. It was really just too easy. I have always wanted to play as well and this is a pretty satisfying way to start!. Heck even the string is just an old guitar string. I did buy rosin for the bow and that helps a whole lot. I could post a video with a better look at it if you think it would help, let me know
That is a good and fitting picture that Jeff painted. Surprising and good sound and play and good vocals.
Wow! I have failed to learn fiddle/violin. Maybe I could do this. I would love that. I have a bow. Info please. Scale length, string used and tuner used.
wow thanks for all the truly kind words, I am slowly putting a collection of songs together I hope to record. Your encouragement makes me think I may just do it.

I think I know what you mean on the dowel. Thanks.

Back for another listen and look at the fiddle. So good. Kitty didn't stick around, but I did.
Beautiful haunting sound Matthew. I love it. Nice voice too.
