"I made a 6 string with a purchased neck so I know on some level it isn't really the spirit of this site but I've checked this site out a lot over the past few years and I've only built a few guitars and this is the one I'm most proud of. At least it's the one I wanted." Also the sound is just from my phone so it really doesn't do it justice. Sounds pretty dead (plus I'm just really learning to play so please forgive that part).

Looks and sounds cool. Don't sweat factory neck thing, one of the first and most important things I found when I first heard about CBGs was in the CBN manifesto - there are no rules. I knew right then that I was home.
For the balance thing you might try putting a strap.
I make all my 1,2,3 & 4 string necks but opt for factory necks for sixers. To install a truss rod is just to time consuming and would drive the price up to the point of a non-sellable git. Like Jim M. I always point out to the customer of the fact that it has a factory neck to which their response is usually just....."cool" :-)
I just realized the one thing I forgot to mention was the amazing person who convinced me not only to not pay him to put the parts I had (electronics, neck, plates) together for me but encouraged me to do it myself and went through a very lengthy back and forth with extensive descriptions. His name is Jim Milligan and he has a shop called New Egypt Folk String Music co. A really nice guy who helped me immensely.
Sounds great! I love making my own necks but when I get a busted git for cheap I'm happy to use the neck on a build and they do sell pretty quickly at craft shows. I always point out the fact that it's a recycled neck to potential buyers.
Nice Guitars sounds good Nothing wrong with using a fac neck many builders on Here have use them. I am presently Building a Electric Dulcimer with a old Fender neck It's go na be a 6 string Dulcimer full Chromatic Custom homemade except for Neck Good job on Your Build

Cool build. I really dig the license plate on the back. Great playing too, guitar sounds awesome.
