Pickups, Made, Home

These pickups won't sound like your typical EMG or Single coil from your fender. You might have to turn the amp up a bit more, or feed it through a effects pedal to boost the signal. But they sound pretty good for what they are. The thinner the wire, the better the sound. You could even add a peizo and one of these together if you want I bet....the sky is the limit.

Good idea. I've been planning on trying to make my own pickup soon and have piles of transformers I would never have thought to use as a source of wire. Old hard drives have neodymium if you have any old drives laying around...but their shape might be somewhat difficult to adapt for a pickup.
