  • Thanks Sammy.  I upload first on youtube.  They have an effects thing that includes the sepia tone and more.

    Ron, Oily, go for it.  I know how creative  you are.

    Thanks John Maw,   Good saying.

    Thanks Clock.  Wilson Mizner?   Did he play diddly bow?

  • "On the borrowing ideas discussion someone said 'Stealing one idea is plagiarism. Stealing many ideas is research.' Can't remember where I nicked that, but I nicked a whole lot of other stuff too, so that makes it OK."

    "If you copy from one author, it's plagiarism. If you copy from two, it's research."

  • Wow. Powerful. A great collaboration. I can quite see a sequence of videos where you two swop songs and singers. I'm not saying that you two are interchangeable, but rather that your writing styles and singing styles are mutually compatible.

  • Very pleased you're inspired Oily...!   like John said everything's for sharing on the 'Nation - have fun and looking forward to hearing your results! (-:

    "Nothing is new under the Sun" as they say, nothing is owned, and everything is borrowed...! (-:

  • UJ, Steve,

    Can I riff on the "It is what it is" theme, but kinda in reverse? BTW, I dig everything about this, starting with its simplicity. And not to hijack the thread, and at the risk of stating the obvious...

    Sammy,

    I use these and other people's vids to spark ideas for my own writing. They usually set me going off on a whole new tangent. In that way, just from interactions here at CBN, I have managed to come up with lyrics to at least 10 different songs, and music, so far, for 3 of them. It's not exactly borrowing, but ain't stealing either; it's just the way ideas spark off one another. I once read or heard this quote by some famous musician whose name I can't now recall, that went something like, "None of us can write every song out there, but every one of us has at least one song to sing."

  • Hey fellas, lovin the sepia tone video, looks great, looks really vintage and 'from another era'. Like other have said, so grateful for the hints and tips about writing. Gotta have another stab at this. Keep doing what you doing. I love your explanation about keeping it simple....getting an idea that you are passionate about and then using that as a spur to write...and see what come up. Thanks again.

  • Thanks Rich and Furry.    Rock it Steve!

  • i loved it rocked me

  • way to go  guys  !!!!!     That was a goodun !!!!

  • ...yes i'd like to continue to use the "it is what it is" theme with the same riff and and develop the story further, though knowing me it will turn out to be something rather more sinister...!  (-;
