This tutorial was requested by a couple of viewers. I explain how I performed Mellow Yellow, the classic 60's hit from Donovan, on the Hobo Fiddle. This tutorial will work on any cigar box guitar (or other 3-string instrument) tuned G-D-G. It's a really fun song to play.

  • Meh. 17... 71... who cares? It's all about livin' life to the fullest. Thanks for checking it out AGP.

  • Always love a good tutorial Poorness!, nice old song from the days of Hippies and Flower Power, but at that time as a 17yr old, I was still Rockin' with Stones, and still am today, even though the age number has been reversed to a 71yr old.  :-D

  • Ah. So you guys play it in C instead of D. That makes sense. It is a fun song.

  • This is a fun song Kale and the key is the strum/mute you demonstrated which makes it sound cool.

Because the muting technique is easiest with a 1-finger bar chord the song is even easier with all fretted 1-finger bar chords. That’s how the Slingers do it starting with C and the fretted walk down starts at the 12th fret: G F# F in our 4 chord version.

You have all the specifics in your tutorial to master this crazy song electrical bananas and all!

  • Mad not Made... stupid autocorrect

  • Luckily she's just made about you too Unc.

  • I'm just wild about safron!
