About time I tried my hand at making one. Not pretty and needs a bit more work but it plays in tune, acoustic for now. They say that it helps builders to learn to play, it sure feels good to play something that I put together myself, however haphazardly.

A "surform tool" (made by Stanley Tools in the US, but I assume they're available worldwide) is cheap and good for creating a lot of sawdust in a hurry. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes--all featuring a replaceable scraper plate screwed into some sort of handle. Use 'em before the rasp and sandpaper to get a rough shape quickly.
right on Patrick !!!!!!! that is awesome it sounds really neat and i think you played it really well . nice sound again . great build . you got it. find what cha can build it like ya want and you said it best. FUN TO PLAY looks like you are having fun so thats what matters to me more than anything . thats just coming from a little fish. Im no big fish. but its pretty cool to me

A spokeshave is about the best hand tool you can use for rounding off, expensive though.
All good, had a go at it with a rasp and some sandpaper.
It sounds so good through the amp that I think I've got the bug now, getting sorted for the next one.
Thanks again lads. I found a disc piezo that I took out of an old resonator years ago and put it in. Woooeee!
I'm going to fix it good now, the neck is way too chunky and it's not easy to play at speed. I need to round off the edges at the back. A plane?
win! win! win!
