Double Neck CBGs ~ poseur flash or practicality???What do you think?Keep in mind that Shane Speal set up the Cigar Box Nation with the motto: No rules. But most of us have personal rules, preferences, beliefs, etc.One of mine was or is that double neck gits are too fancy or show offy – at least for my own self. But are they practical if a person plays two tunings like I do? Turns out for performance, open mike, etc. – it’s seamless to change tunings without changing gits. How is the playability? This one is pretty good. I don’t bump or get hindered by the neck not in use. These 2 necks are just under 3 inches (7cm) apart. Works well. One piezo electrifys both. Piezo about dead center in the box.Appearance: I cannibalized 2 gits to make the double. I like the necks looking different and different lengths and I like that they are mildly relic’d. The box does not look quite right with the necks. Suggestions?

  • Bob, with you it is a bit of both, cause you can sure play those gits in a lot of tunings.

  • flash and i got one

  • I'm a leg, thigh and breast man, meself, but that's only when talking about fried chicken.

Better rubber neckers than... Nopenopenope, not gonna go there.

Some knee people might get offended. >:-E
  • Neck people have #1 on Top content and butt people have #2. . .  Apparently Uncle John is not the only one shutting out RTZ.   :P

Remember:  Double neckers, good; rubber neckers, bad.

  • RTZ,  top content here is a funny beast.   It's often not the best stuff that makes it.  Sometimes things get people responding and talking.  Do you suppose these are neck people and not butt people?

  • Glenn,

4-banger cuz I 'm used to 6ers, and like the extra string for stuff - more tonal options. Still working on 3s; my mind don't work that simple. Oh, and I only replied cuz its fun to see 2 buds jockey for TC honors ;-)
  • John, your the only thing keeping a butt off top content. Get out of the way.

  • Well Oily Strat-O, this is exactly what I'm doing but for 3 instead of 4 stringer on the bottom (lower) neck. Well, no plates, just a nice box. Great minds??? Ha! Nice ideas.

  • Unc,

Yep. Two license plates, side by side lengthwise, as the cover for a single box, one neck for each plate. Now that I'm thinking about this more, I think fer highly kewl would be a Lowebow bass+3 string slider config on one side, and a fretted 4-stringer on the bottom neck...yeah, that's the ticket!
