Hi all, thanks for the comments. I just came across that bat video whilst looking for other things.
Here are some photos of Jake building his first guitar. He of course worked with guidance but was hands-on with all tasks. here he is cutting fret slots, fretting the neck, and drilling tuner holes. Who would have thought that this young guy would have a work space of his own, and even gave me his old bandsaw when he upsized to a new one. Cheers taff
Very cool design and some great playing too. I made a bass out of a pizza paddle a few years back. I've seen a lot of folks make guitars from boat oars. I even remember Shane Speal making one from a bellows handle. And of course, I've seen a few hockey stick guitars... all of that said... I think this is the first time I've seen a cricket paddle used for a git and I have to say I like it.
Jake, my grandson built his own solid-body guitar when he was 12 years old, now he repairs cricket bats. I'm not sure what he has more of Bats or guitars.

Well I`ve always said you can`t beat the sound of leather on willow!
Now I can say you can`t beat the sound of steel wire on willow too!
Great job by your Grandad mate!
